Design conceptA clean walnut seat carried by one found boulder and one hand-cut steel fin. The exposed connection is the signature—not an ordinary frame.

Found stone · shaped timber · forged steel
One-of-one benches and tables that keep the stone wild, shape the wood by hand, and make the metal connection part of the story.
One Lucky Dad Designs
We start with the stone—not a catalog base. Its shape sets the stance, the timber is sculpted to meet it, and blackened steel becomes the honest connection between the two.
Built in Reno by John Mortlock, every piece is a functional original. Every log, slab, stump, and stone we find is naturally unique—no two shapes, grain patterns, textures, or markings are ever the same.
The first collection is underway
Our first finished pieces are now taking shape. Every design begins with individually selected stone, distinctive wood, and recycled steel, then is built one at a time by John. Custom commissions are now being accepted while the first collection is completed.

Five buildable starting designs. Each is remade around a different stone, so no two ever land exactly alike.

Design conceptA long walnut seat balanced on two hand-selected black stones, with a solid timber leg nested into the smaller rock for an expressive, grounded stance.
Design conceptA pale ash seat and recessed support rail meet one upright river stone and one broad timber leg, creating a simple asymmetrical silhouette.
Design conceptA hand-shaped white-oak top rests directly on a single fieldstone. A concealed connection keeps the silhouette clean and lets the natural materials lead.
Design conceptTwo stones ground a sculpted walnut top while a slim steel bridge locks the base together and creates a low architectural line.
Concept dimensions and starting prices shown. Every order is quoted after the stone, species, finish, and delivery method are selected. Bench and center-table orders begin with local delivery.
No two pieces are alike
Every rock, wood slab, log, and stump has its own shape, grain, color, texture, and natural markings. We design around the exact materials selected for your piece, so your finished furniture will be a true one-of-one original.

See the latest piecesThe material is the design
Chosen for its natural shape, character, and strength. Each locally sourced stone helps determine the final form of the piece.
We work with walnut, pine, cedar, redwood, oak, and other distinctive species. Each design will clearly identify the exact wood used in that piece.
Sourced from recycled-metal plants and shaped into saddles, collars, bridges, and other structural details worth seeing.
The maker's mark
Every finished piece receives our OLD mark—burned into timber or stamped into steel—as a simple record of who made it and where it came from.
